History of the German Cardiac Society

In 2002 the German Cardiac Society celebrated its 75th anniversary. On this occasion a special edition “75 Years German Cardiac Society” has been ublished by B. Lüderitz, Bonn, and G. Arnold, Düsseldorf, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, Heidelberg, New York, ISBN 3-540-41431-2.

This comprehensive edition of 470 pages with an enclosure of a facsimile “History and Organization of Circulation Research in Germany” published by the founder of the Society, Prof. Bruno Kisch, New York, in 1955, has been submitted free of charge to more than 5.000 members of the German Cardiac Society. Today, this book is available at bookstores.

On this occasion and the fact that the XXIV. Congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) was held in Berlin in 2002, a summary in English titled “75 Years German Cardiac Society“ has been published by B. Lüderitz and G. Arnold as a supplement to the journal “Zeitschrift für Kardiologie“. This supplement has been submitted free of charge to 20.000 active participants of the ESC-Congress in Berlin. Thanks to the generous attitude of the Steinkopff-Verlag we are permitted to launch the English version in full length, subdivided into chapters.
